James' first outlet for his creative imagination started with an early interest in cartooning and illustration. Turning the pages through his schoolbooks would show a clear talent in creating fantastic characters and worlds influenced by early video games, comics and TV cartoons. As a young Australian, he was first drawn to skateboarding and later surfing as a lifestyle. Street-art, tattoo-style illustrations and designing skate/surf brands became his passion, then painting dream surf breaks on surfboards, canvases and signage.
James career and general lifestyle has been heavily influenced by the desire to discover new direction and inspiration for his creativity. He found this passion through traveling and his eagerness to learn new skills is ever present. This started in the late nineties with travel across many corners of Australia, honing his design and illustration techniques across an expansive amount of small projects and freelance roles.
In 2000 his desire to travel extended to Europe for a short holiday. This however developed into a 4 year journey where he first started practicing his interest in the online world of flash and web design. The London music scene also provided a place to push his traditional illustration skills into digital.
In 2004 James returned to Australia and naturally decided to add another dimension to his skill
set and begun working in packaging and branding design. Working with some Australian household names, he has been rewarded in seeing his designs on the supermarket shelf.
By the end of 2006 he returned to the UK and the evolution of his creative Flash and digital design skills was soon recognized. Based in central London James’ new roles exposed him to all areas of digital design. For the last 6 years James has continued in this area, on global brands and initiative projects pushing his creative ideas, and has now recently returned to Australia indefinitely to lay foundations for new and inspiring directions.
